2026 building permit values report shows strong start

The City of Wrenford's Planning and Development department released the January 2026 building permit values report today. The report shows a strong start to the year, with a total of $14.2 million in building permits approved so far. This is an increase from $11.8 million at the same time last year.

Residential projects make up the largest share, accounting for $8.1 million. Commercial construction brought in $4.5 million, while industrial projects added $1.6 million. The remaining $600,000 covers public service and institutional work.

Notable permits approved in January include:

  • A $1.2 million renovation of community spaces at 400 Benchlands Drive.
  • An $850,000 tenant improvement project at 300 Railside Road.
  • A $620,000 new duplex construction at 85 Larch Heights Drive.
  • A $450,000 retail interior work at 150 Mercer Street.
  • A $380,000 residential renovation at 70 Hollis Park Drive.

"We are seeing steady growth across all sectors," says Elena Petrova, Senior Planner. "This early momentum means more local jobs and updated buildings across Wrenford this year."

If you are planning a renovation or new build, you can check the status of your application or view current zoning rules before you start. The City also offers pre-development consultations to help you navigate the process.
