The City of Wrenford will begin its annual spring water main flushing program on Monday, March 9, 2025, starting with the south end. Crews from the Water and Wastewater department will work through neighbourhoods like Ambrel Lake, Southview, and Eastfield over the coming weeks to keep our drinking water clean and safe.
The flushing process moves water through the pipes at a controlled speed to clear out natural minerals and sediment. This routine maintenance helps maintain strong water pressure and high quality for every home and business.
If you notice your tap water looking cloudy or discoloured during the work, do not worry. Simply run the cold water tap at the highest point in your home—like an upstairs bathroom—until the water runs clear. It usually takes a few minutes. If the water does not clear after 20 minutes, or if you have any questions, contact us at 519-555-0100 or email [email protected].
"Spring flushing is a key part of our commitment to safe drinking water," says Patrick Nguyen, Water Operations Manager. "We appreciate residents' patience while crews work through the neighbourhoods. Running a cold tap for a few minutes is all it takes to get things back to normal."
Crews will also notify affected streets in advance through our emergency alerts system. You can sign up for these text and email updates through our online portal. If your area is not listed in the schedule, crews will visit your neighbourhood later in the spring.
The City will complete flushing across all wards by late April. For a full breakdown of dates, street-by-street schedules, and tips on caring for your pipes, visit our standing information page on water main flushing schedule and info.
