Wrenford water main flushing begins March 2 in the west end

City water crews will begin flushing water mains in the west end on March 2. The annual flushing programme runs through March 27 and covers the Benchlands, Westbrook, Larch Heights, and Hollis Park neighbourhoods. The work helps keep our drinking water safe and clean.

Flushing involves running water at high speed through the pipes. This removes sediment and minerals that build up over time. During the work, you may notice your water looking cloudy or brown. This is called discolouration. It is not harmful, but it can stain laundry.

If your water changes colour, run the cold water tap at the highest point in your home for up to 20 minutes or until it runs clear. Do not run the hot water tap while the water is discoloured. This could push sediment into your hot water tank. Once the water is clear, turn off all taps and let the water run through your outside hose for a few minutes.

"Flushing is a simple but important step in keeping our water system healthy," said Patrick Nguyen, Water Operations Manager. "We appreciate your patience while we complete this work in your neighbourhood."

Flushing may cause a temporary drop in water pressure. This is normal. If you have questions or need help, call Service Wrenford 311 or visit Contact us.
