Wrenford transit launches free rides on Canada Day

Wrenford Transit will offer free fares on all fixed routes and Wrenford Access across the City on July 1 to encourage car-free travel and celebrate the holiday.

On Canada Day, you can ride any Wrenford Transit bus or Wrenford Access vehicle at no cost. This applies to all 14 fixed routes as well as the specialized transit service for riders with mobility needs. You do not need a day pass, monthly pass, or mobile app ticket. Just board the bus and tap your card or show your phone if you have a digital ticket. The fare box will remain open, but your ride will be on the house.

Service runs on the regular Saturday schedule. The first bus leaves the Downtown Transit Terminal at 8:00 a.m., and the last bus returns by 10:00 p.m. If you are heading to Canada Day in the Park at Centennial Gardens, expect busy service on Routes 1, 2, 4, and 11. Plan to leave a few minutes early to avoid the rush.

"Free transit on Canada Day is a great way to celebrate our city and reduce traffic downtown," says Daniel Osei, Transit Manager. "We want everyone to enjoy the holiday safely and easily, whether they are heading to a community event or visiting family."

Because the day falls on a Wednesday, some riders may notice a slightly different schedule than usual. Check the latest Bus schedules and timetables before you head out. If you need Wrenford Access, book your trip as you normally would through the Wrenford Transit app or by calling 311.

After your ride, take a moment to keep the transit terminals clean. The Downtown Transit Terminal and all outdoor stops will be busy with festival-goers. Please dispose of trash in the bins provided and keep walkways clear.
