Wrenford releases second half 2025 operating variance report

The City of Wrenford has released its second half 2025 operating variance report, showing how tax dollars and provincial grants were spent between April and September 2025. The report is available online and at the Service Wrenford counter, 100 Mercer Street, Wrenford, ON N4Q 1A1.

The variance report tracks actual spending against the approved 2026 budget. It covers every department, from garbage and recycling collection and road maintenance to transit operations and public safety. The report also details how the City manages its reserve accounts, including the Major Renewal Reserve for ageing water and transit equipment, and the Park Renewal Reserve for trail resurfacing and playground upgrades. A surplus in one area often offsets a shortfall in another, which is normal for a city of our size.

Despite inflationary pressures on construction materials, fuel and labour, Wrenford’s overall financial position remains stable. Prudent financial management, strong liquidity and steady revenue streams support continued investment in essential infrastructure and services. The City’s fiscal health is also reflected in its stable debt levels, with debt servicing kept below 10 per cent of operating costs to keep property taxes predictable.

"Our financial position remains strong as we navigate rising costs across the sector," said Robert Eng, City Manager. "This variance report shows we are on track to deliver essential services for all 92,400 residents while maintaining our fiscal reserves for future projects."

Residents and local businesses are encouraged to review the full report to see where their tax dollars are going. Questions or comments can be sent to the Policy and Governance team at [email protected] or by calling 519-555-0100.
