On February 11, 2025, Wrenford City Council approved a $45,000 allocation from the 2025 operating budget to launch a new digital archive for the Old Mill Museum & Archives. The project is a joint effort between the City and the Wrenford Public Library Board.
The initiative will scan and catalog more than 3,000 historical photographs, maps, and handwritten documents dating back to the mill's founding in 1834. Once it launches, you will be able to search the collection online through the library's website. The physical archives at 12 Mill Street will remain open for in-person research, and staff will continue to accept donations of family papers and photographs.
“Having the city's earliest records available to everyone, anywhere, is a major step forward,” says City Manager Robert Eng. “This partnership ensures we protect our shared history while making it useful for schools, researchers, and neighbours.”
The digital archive is expected to launch in the fall of 2025. Library staff are currently training on the new scanning equipment. If you have family photographs or documents from the Old Mill neighbourhood, contact the archives at 519-555-0133 to discuss digitization options.
