Wrenford council begins 2026 budget workshops with public input

Wrenford City Council begins its 2026 budget planning today, Oct. 7, 2025, with a series of workshops that will guide how the city spends your tax dollars. City Manager Robert Eng and the finance team will present the first background documents to councillors, outlining service levels, property tax options, and major capital projects for the coming year. Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price will open the sessions, noting that the 2026 budget must keep costs predictable for residents while funding essential upgrades to transit, public safety, and parks.

The workshops run through early November and are open to all residents. You can attend in person at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, or join virtually through the City's livestream. During the sessions, councillors will discuss priorities for each ward and review draft property tax rates. They will also consider how to balance affordability with the need to maintain roads, water systems, and community facilities.

Residents who cannot attend the meetings can still share their priorities. The City has launched the Budget engagement page, where you can access the online Community Budget Survey. This survey lets you rank the services that matter most to you and your neighbourhood. You can also visit pop-up budget information tables at libraries and community centres in May and June. If you need help with the survey or have questions about the budget process, visit the Understand the budget process page or call the City at 519-555-0100.

"We want to make sure every dollar we spend reflects what our neighbourhoods actually need," said City Manager Robert Eng. "These workshops give councillors the background they need to make tough choices, and your feedback helps us see where we can focus our efforts to keep Wrenford affordable and livable."

After the workshops, Council will review detailed reports from each department, hold public meetings, and vote on the final 2026 operating and capital budget by September. You can view the 2025 operating budget to see how funds were spent last year on the View the current annual budget page.
