Waste wizard guide updated for fall yard waste disposal

The City of Wrenford released an updated Waste Wizard guide on October 6, 2025, to help residents sort yard waste this fall. The guide is available on the City website and covers collection dates, paper bag rules and green bin tips.

Leaf and branch collection runs biweekly from April through the end of November. Residents can place yard waste in their green compost carts or in brown paper bags. Plastic bags are not accepted for collection. If your green bin is full, you can place up to three brown paper bags next to the cart on collection morning.

The Waste Wizard is the easiest way for residents to find out exactly what goes in the green bin this fall, says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. We have added clear photos and a quick checklist so you can sort your leaves, twigs and garden trimmings without guessing.

To use the guide, visit the Waste wizard and disposal guide page and select the Fall Yard Waste tab. You can also print a Waste Sorting Quick Reference Card from the same page and tape it to your kitchen fridge or shed door.

Please place your green bin and paper bags at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your collection day. Keep the carts at least one metre apart from vehicles and each other so the collection truck can pick them up safely. If you need a new green bin or have questions about collection, visit the Garbage & Recycling page or call City Services at 519-555-0100.

For the full list of collection days and holiday schedule changes, see the Yard waste and leaf collection schedule page.
