Transit shelter advertising program launches for downtown corridor

The City of Wrenford is launching a new advertising program for transit shelters along the downtown corridor, and you can apply if you run a local business. Starting next month, selected merchants will feature their products and services on the protective panels at the busiest stops on Mercer and Tamsin Streets.

This initiative helps downtown businesses reach more riders while supporting the ongoing maintenance of the shelter network. The City is working with the Downtown BIA to make sure the advertising opportunities are easy for small shops and independent retailers to join.

“Investing in the transit network means investing in the people who use it,” said City Manager Robert Eng. “This program gives local businesses a chance to reach their customers directly, and the revenue helps keep our shelters clean, safe, and ready for the winter months.”

The program covers shelters along Routes 1, 4, 8, and 11, which serve the highest daily ridership in the downtown core. You will see your advertisements on the back panels of the shelters. The City handles the installation, removal, and regular cleaning of the display panels throughout your contract.

Applications are open until November 15, 2025. You can submit your proposals through the Downtown BIA online portal or pick up a paper application at the Service Wrenford counter at Wrenford City Hall. A standard fee applies, with discounted rates available for non-profit organizations and youth-led initiatives.

The City is also looking for community-friendly designs that align with the Downtown Streetscape guidelines. Large commercial chains must follow the same design standards to ensure a cohesive look along the corridor. The first batch of new shelter advertisements will go up in early December, just in time for the holiday shopping season.
