Transit fare increase effective November 1 for single rides

Transit fares in Wrenford will increase effective November 1, 2025. The adjustment targets single-ride tickets paid with cash or at transit terminals. Monthly and season passes will not change. The new single-ride fare will be $3.75 for adults and $3.25 for youth and seniors, up from $3.50 and $3.00 respectively.

“This is a small change that protects your monthly pass from a larger hike,” said City Manager Robert Eng. “It also helps fund the electric buses we are adding to the fleet and keeps our service running on time.”

The increase will bring in roughly $420,000 each year, which covers rising maintenance, insurance, and fuel costs while the city transitions to a zero-emission fleet. Wrenford Transit fares have not changed since 2017, and they remain lower than those in many comparable Ontario cities.

Riders who pay with the Wrenford Transit app or a contactless debit or credit card will still receive a free 90-minute transfer. Paper transfers are no longer needed for electronic payments, and the app gives you instant ticket activation. If you usually pay with cash, consider loading a pass or using the app to save money and skip the fare box.

The fare update follows approval by Council as part of the 2026–2027 budget process. For a full list of current fares, pass options, and eligibility for the Low-Income Transit Pass programme, visit the Transit fares and passes page.
