Tamsin River Run event returns July 12 with water safety reminders

The City of Wrenford is excited to welcome participants back to the Tamsin River Run on Saturday, July 12. The annual event takes place along the Tamsin River Trail, and we are encouraging runners, cyclists, and walkers of all ages to join in. Registration is now open online, and we expect to see hundreds of residents taking part in the festivities.

As water levels along the Tamsin River can change quickly with summer weather, we want to remind everyone to stay aware of their surroundings. If you are planning to run or walk close to the water’s edge, please keep an eye on river conditions. Fast-moving currents and slippery rocks can be dangerous, especially for children and pets. We ask that participants respect all trail closures and stay on designated paths.

Water safety is a top priority for the City. We encourage all participants to bring plenty of drinking water, wear sunscreen, and check the daily water quality updates before heading out. If you notice discoloured water or unusual odours near the trail, please report it immediately through our online reporting tool.

Event organizers have set up hydration stations along the route, but we still recommend that you bring your own reusable bottle. Staying hydrated in the summer heat is important for everyone. If you need tips on how to conserve water at home, check out our conservation toolkit available at any branch of the Wrenford Public Library.

“We want the Tamsin River Run to be a fun and safe day for every participant and spectator,” said Patrick Nguyen, Water Operations Manager. “By keeping an eye on the river and following these simple safety tips, we can all enjoy the beautiful Tamsin River Trail together.”
