Snow clearing and sidewalk plowing schedule released for November

The Roads & Winter Maintenance team has released the official schedule for the 2025–2026 winter season. Starting December 1, crews will be on the streets to keep Wrenford moving through the colder months.

Main roads and bus routes will be plowed as soon as an accumulation of five centimetres is reached. Residential streets will follow within 48 hours once the snow reaches eight centimetres. The city is divided into six winter sectors to ensure crews can cover every neighbourhood efficiently. If you live in a newer area like Wildrye, your street will be added to the schedule as construction finishes.

To make room for snowplows and salt trucks, the overnight on-street parking ban will run from December 1, 2025, to March 31, 2026, between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. This rule applies to all city streets, including snow routes. If you have a medical condition or mobility issue that makes moving your car difficult, you can apply for an exemption. You can also get a contractor or commercial parking permit if your business needs vehicles on site. Find out more about snow route parking bans.

Property owners are responsible for keeping their sidewalks clear of snow and ice. The by-law requires you to clear your walkway within 12 hours after a snowfall ends. Fines of $150.00 for a first offence and $300.00 for repeat offences will be enforced to keep pedestrians safe. Learn about sidewalk clearing rules.

"We know winter weather can be unpredictable, but our crews are ready to roll out early," says James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "Our goal is to clear your street quickly and safely, and we appreciate residents keeping their cars off the roads during the overnight ban so plows can do their job."

Residents can track plow routes and get service alerts by signing up for Wrenford 311 notifications. For the full list of winter schedules, equipment guidelines, and contact information, visit the Roads & Winter Maintenance page.
