The City of Wrenford Roads & Winter Maintenance team has released the January street clearing schedule, outlining which neighbourhoods will be serviced first as snowfall increases across Southwestern Ontario. The schedule is part of the annual Winter Maintenance and Parking By-law 2020-097, which sets clear triggers for action and ensures crews can move quickly when weather turns.
Under the current plan, main roads and transit routes are plowed once there is five centimetres of snow on the ground. Residential streets follow at eight centimetres. Crews will apply sand, salt, and brine to keep roads safe during freezing conditions. The City also prioritizes snow removal around school zones, high-traffic sidewalks, and along the Tamsin River Trail System to keep pedestrians moving safely.
"Clearing the city is a team effort that depends on clear rules and realistic expectations," said Samuel Adeyemi, GM Infrastructure and Planning. "Our crews are prepared to work through the night when storms are heavy, but we need you to move your vehicles when signs are posted so we can keep traffic moving and avoid damage to your car."
Residents should be aware of the overnight on-street parking ban, which runs from December 1 to March 31 between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. Look for "No Parking" sandwich boards placed along your street. If your road is signed, you must park off-street in a driveway or on a grey route. You can check your street's route colour and find nearby parking options using the City's snow map. If you have a verified mobility condition, you can apply for a snow route parking ban exemption.
