Request winter service timing changes for new residents

As a new resident, you can request adjustments to winter service vehicle timings through the Roads & Winter Maintenance department. Starting this week, the City has streamlined the application process to help you navigate your first winter in the community.

Plowing crews begin clearing main roads when snowfall reaches five centimetres and residential streets after eight centimetres. However, specific conditions like steep driveways, limited turning space, or medical needs may require a vehicle to pause or adjust its route. You can submit a timing change request online or by emailing [email protected].

The City reviews each request within seven to ten business days. To ensure changes are in place before the first snowfall of the season, you must submit your application at least fourteen days before the winter season begins. The overnight on-street parking ban runs from December 1 to March 31, from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m.

"We want every resident to feel confident and safe during the winter months," says Samuel Adeyemi, General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. "By providing clear guidelines and a straightforward request process, we can ensure our plowing and salt trucks operate efficiently while respecting the unique needs of each neighbourhood."

You should review the Winter Maintenance and Parking By-law 2020-097 before submitting a request to understand eligibility criteria.
