Northgate Drop-off Depot recycling bin upgrades

The City of Wrenford is upgrading the recycling bins at the Northgate Drop-off Depot. The new bins will be installed on September 1, 2025. This work is part of the Roads & Winter Maintenance team's ongoing efforts to improve how we manage waste across the city and support our diversion targets.

You will notice larger bins with clear, colour-coded signs. Each bin is marked for a specific material: plastics, paper, glass, and metal. These changes match the way the Blue Box program works at your curbside. The goal is to make sorting easier for you and to keep contamination out of the recycling stream. When materials mix, they can spoil entire loads and end up in the landfill.

Clear signs and separate bins mean less guesswork and cleaner recycling, says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. When residents sort correctly, we can process more material and send less to the landfill. This helps us meet our long-term waste reduction goals and keeps disposal costs down for everyone.

You can find the depot at 1010 Northgate Boulevard, Wrenford, ON N4Q 4B8. The hours stay the same. You can still drop off your recycling on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Make sure to empty any containers and keep lids off before you drop them in the bins. If a bin is full or damaged, let us know through the Service Wrenford app or by calling 311. Our crews check the site daily to keep everything running smoothly.
