Starting this week, the City of Wrenford is extending household hazardous waste collection at the Northgate Drop-off Depot through the end of October. If you have paint, solvents, motor oil, batteries, or propane tanks that need safe disposal, you now have more time to drop them off before the season ends.
The depot is located at 1010 Northgate Boulevard. It is open Wednesday and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This seasonal extension supports the city's waste diversion targets and helps keep harmful chemicals out of the regular garbage stream and the Tamsin River.
“We know that not everyone gets to the depot during the regular season, so this extension ensures that hazardous materials stay out of the regular garbage stream and the Tamsin River,” said Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. “Proper disposal protects our water, our soil, and our landfill space for the long term.”

When you visit, please keep your vehicle windows down and place items in the open-air drop-off bins. Do not mix liquids or leave containers unattended. If you have large quantities of any material, or if you run into questions, call 311 or visit the Garbage & Recycling page for full guidelines.
This update fits into the broader waste management framework set out in By-laws, which requires all residents to separate hazardous items from their regular garbage. The city also runs the Join a neighbourhood cleanup programme, which provides free bags and gloves for block clean-ups across neighbourhoods.
