Northgate Branch library hosts fall community history exhibit

Get ready to look back at how Wrenford grew. The Northgate Branch of the Wrenford Public Library is hosting a free exhibit called Wrenford in the Making: 1950–1970. It runs from September 22 to October 12 and is open during all regular library hours.

The exhibit shows old photos, maps, and stories from the mid-1900s. You will see what the downtown looked like before the Centennial Bridge was built, and how the old mill served the community. There are also maker workshops where you can learn about local crafts and visual arts from the era.

The exhibit opens with a reception on September 22 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Northgate Branch, 900 Northgate Boulevard. The library will also host a series of talks where long-time residents share their memories of the city's early years.

Gwen Lachance, Heritage & Archives Coordinator, says, "This exhibit is about capturing the everyday moments that built our city. We want you to share your memories with us."

There is a "Your Story, Our City" guest book at the exhibit. Bring a photo or a story from your family to add to the collection. The library collects and preserves these materials so future generations can learn about Wrenford's past.

Visit the Old Mill Museum & Archives or the Library archives page to learn more about how to explore Wrenford's past. You can also come to the Northgate Branch library to see the exhibit and enjoy the local history library.
