The City of Wrenford is announcing that the Northgate Aquatic Centre at 910 Northgate Boulevard will close for its annual winter shutdown starting Monday, January 5. The facility is expected to reopen in mid-March, pending the completion of scheduled maintenance and inspections.
During the closure, patrons who usually swim at Northgate are encouraged to visit the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre on Benchlands Drive. The leisure centre will host additional lane swimming times throughout the winter to meet demand. Drop-in fitness classes in the fitness studios at Northgate will remain open on a reduced schedule.
Customer service representatives will continue to assist with registration, gift card purchases, and general inquiries. The Northgate front desk will be open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., until December 31. From January 1 to the closure date, staff will operate from the Wrenford City Hall service counter at 100 Mercer Street.
Recreation Value Pass holders can use their passes at the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre and Kingfisher Outdoor Pool during the summer months. If you need to place a temporary hold on your account or request a prorated credit, you must visit a recreation facility in person or call 519-555-0121 before December 31.
"We know how much our community relies on the 50-metre pool and dive tank at Northgate," said Fiona Gallagher, general manager of community services. "This annual shutdown allows our technical staff to thoroughly inspect the waterslide system, replace mechanical components, and ensure the water quality systems are running safely for the spring season."
