The Northgate Aquatic Centre at 910 Northgate Boulevard, Wrenford, ON N4Q 4B5 will close for its annual winter shutdown today, Saturday, February 1. The facility will remain closed through Sunday, February 15, and will reopen to the public on Monday, February 16. This yearly pause allows our maintenance teams to thoroughly inspect and service the 50-metre pool, dive tank, waterslide, and all technical systems.
While the aquatic centre is closed, residents can still stay active at other recreation facilities in the city. The Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre on Benchlands Drive will remain open with its full schedule of lap swimming, fitness classes, and fieldhouse programming. The Westbrook Community Arena and Eastfield Twin Arenas will also host regular public skating and drop-in hockey sessions throughout the closure.
If you hold a Recreation Value Pass, your membership includes access to the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre during this period. You do not need to visit a facility to activate it. If your pass only covers the Northgate Aquatic Centre, you can visit the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre customer service counter to upgrade to a Recreation Plus Pass or All Access Pass, or place a temporary hold on your membership. Pass holders who wish to cancel their membership and receive a pro-rated credit can call 519-555-0100 or visit City Hall during regular business hours.
Regular operating hours will resume at the Northgate Aquatic Centre on Monday, February 16. Monday to Friday, the centre will open at 6:00 a.m. and close at 9:00 p.m. On weekends, it will open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 6:00 p.m. We encourage you to check the Programs page for the most current drop-in schedules and to plan your visit ahead of time.
"Winter maintenance is a key part of keeping our aquatic centres safe and comfortable for families," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "We appreciate residents using our other community facilities while we complete this important work."
