The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that the Northgate Aquatic Centre at 910 Northgate Boulevard reopens today, September 28, 2025. The facility has been closed since late August for essential roof repairs and mechanical upgrades to the filtration system. These improvements ensure the pool area meets the latest safety and energy standards for the upcoming season.
With the doors open, all regular programs are returning immediately. You can register for swimming lessons, book aquafit classes, and sign up for length swim sessions through the Recreation Online portal. Public swim is also available Monday to Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., and on weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The 50-metre pool, dive tank, and waterslide are fully operational.
"The community has shown great patience while our crews completed these necessary upgrades," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "We are excited to welcome families back to the Northgate Aquatic Centre so they can enjoy safe, clean water and a full schedule of recreation programs for the next several months."
While the main indoor work is complete, crews will continue to finish exterior landscaping and parking lot markings over the next two weeks. There may be brief, scheduled lane closures on Northgate Boulevard between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. To reduce traffic impact, please use the adjacent drop-off lane or park at the nearby Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre and walk over.
