WRENFORD, ON — The City of Wrenford is pleased to announce that structural construction on the rebuilt Northgate Aquatic Centre at 910 Northgate Boulevard has reached its final milestone. With the steel frame and exterior envelope complete, the project is ready to move into the interior fit-out phase ahead of a planned spring 2025 opening for you.
The structural completion was approved as a capital works milestone by Council earlier this year as part of the city's long-term recreation infrastructure plan. The project, which replaces the ageing facility in the Northgate neighbourhood, includes a 50-metre lap pool, a dive tank, a waterslide, and dedicated program rooms.
“This structural milestone reflects the hard work of our construction teams and the careful planning by city staff,” said Samuel Adeyemi, General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. “We are committed to delivering a safe, modern aquatic facility that will serve the Northgate community and the wider city for decades to come.”
While the exterior is now weather-tight, crews will spend the next several months installing plumbing, mechanical systems, pool coatings, and accessible washroom facilities. During this phase, the surrounding parking lot at 910 Northgate Boulevard may see temporary lane closures and restricted access between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. You are asked to allow extra time for your commutes and to follow posted detour signs.
The City thanks you for your patience during the construction period. Detailed updates on the fit-out schedule and your local programming will be shared through the newsroom and ward newsletters. In the meantime, the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre remains open for length swimming, aquafit, and lessons.
