New supportive housing opens near Northgate Centre in May

A new supportive housing project is opening its doors in the Northgate neighbourhood this May. The City of Wrenford, working with community partners, is welcoming residents to the new building at 980 Northgate Boulevard, just steps from the Northgate Aquatic Centre. The opening marks a key step in the City's plan to expand safe and stable housing options for people facing housing insecurity.

The new building offers 30 units designed for individuals and families who need ongoing support services. Staff from Tamsin Valley Public Health and local non-profit agencies will be on-site to help residents access healthcare, job training, and counselling. The project was made possible through a partnership between the City, the provincial government, and regional housing providers.

City Council approved the site and zoning changes earlier this year to get the building ready for occupancy. The development meets all modern energy and safety standards, and the building is fully accessible.

What residents need to know: If you or someone you know needs supportive housing, you can apply through the Coordinated Access Program. Referrals are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. If you want to learn more, you can call 519-555-0100 or visit the Service Wrenford counter at City Hall. The program is open to all Wrenford residents who meet the eligibility criteria.

"Expanding supportive housing is a top priority for our community," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "This new building will provide a safe place to call home while connecting people with the care and services they need to thrive. We are proud to work alongside our partners to keep housing accessible for everyone in Wrenford."

The City continues to track progress on its broader housing goals. For more information about available housing programmes, application steps, and upcoming community events, please visit the Housing page.
