The City of Wrenford announced today that the Wrenford Tech Startup Incentive Program is now open to applicants across the city. Starting January 22, 2025, early-stage technology companies can apply for funding, tax relief, and faster permit processing to help them launch and grow in Wrenford.
Technology businesses often face high startup costs and complex permitting processes. This program removes those barriers so you can focus on building products and creating jobs. The program offers three main supports:
- Startup Grant: Eligible companies can receive up to $25,000 to cover early research, prototyping equipment, and initial software development.
- Property Tax Relief: Tech companies leasing office space in the downtown core or Industrial Park East will receive a 25 per cent property tax abatement for their first three years in Wrenford.
- Fast-Track Permits: Building permit applications for tech office fit-ups will be reviewed within 10 business days, cutting down waiting time for business owners.
"We know that a strong technology sector brings high-quality jobs and supports local businesses from grocery stores to restaurants," said Isabel Moreno, Economic Development Manager. "This program is designed to help early-stage companies get off the ground quickly by removing the early hurdles. We want Wrenford to be the place where new ideas take root and grow."
To qualify, your company must be less than five years old, have at least 10 employees working in Wrenford, and plan to lease or purchase commercial space in the city. The City is currently accepting applications through its online portal. You will need to submit a brief business plan and proof of space lease or purchase. The City will review applications on a rolling basis and notify successful applicants within four weeks. Funding is available until the allocated budget is exhausted, so early applications are encouraged.
