The Fallsview section of the Tamsin River Trail System reopens to pedestrians and cyclists on Saturday, December 27, 2025, following a routine holiday inspection. The pathway was briefly closed earlier this week after the City's Parks & Trails team noticed minor ice buildup and debris near the Centennial Gardens entrance. Crews have cleared the path, applied sand, and confirmed it is safe for you to use.
You can now enjoy the trail again as the city prepares for the final weekend of the Lights at the Falls festival. The trail stretches from Riverside Flats Park to Benchlands Lookout Park, offering a quiet route past the holiday light displays. The City reminds you to keep to the right and share the path with pedestrians, runners, and wheelchair users. During the cold winter months, the trail surface can change quickly, so you should wear footwear with good grip and carry a phone in case you need help.
"The pathway is fully cleared and ready for the weekend crowds," says Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "We want everyone to enjoy the season safely, so please watch for any lingering ice patches near the bridges and keep your pets on a short leash."
If you spot a maintenance issue, such as a fallen branch or a blocked drainage grate, report it through the City's online service request form or call Civic Operations at 519-555-0112. The trail remains open until dusk. Remember that overnight parking bans are in effect on nearby streets from December 1 to March 31, so you will need to move your vehicle if you park along the route.
