The Wrenford Public Library Board approved its 2026 operating budget on November 14, 2025, during a meeting at the Main Branch. The budget keeps all library fees steady and directs new funding toward digital access, including free Wi-Fi hotspots and upgraded computer stations.
The 2026 plan allocates $1.8 million to the Main Branch and $900,000 to each branch. A major portion supports the new Digital Access Initiative, which will provide 50 free wireless hotspots for residents without home internet, update public computers, and fund digital literacy workshops. The board also approved a $25,000 increase for youth programming and kept summer day camp registration fees unchanged. Library cards remain free for all residents.
"Our 2026 budget ensures that every resident, regardless of income or neighbourhood, can connect to the resources they need," said Tara Sandhu, Library CEO. "Digital access is no longer a luxury; it is a basic community service, and we are making sure Wrenford's libraries lead the way."
Residents can view the full 2026 budget and branch schedules on the Library page. The board will host a public information session on December 5 at the Northgate Branch to answer questions. New digital literacy classes start in January.
