Learn to skate sessions start June 3 at Eastfield Arenas

Learn to skate sessions begin June 3 at Eastfield Twin Arenas, welcoming skaters of all ages and ability levels for the spring and summer season.

Eastfield Twin Arenas, located at 620 Eastfield Road, features two regulation ice pads and serves as a busy hub for summer ball hockey before the ice returns in the fall. The Learn to Skate programme uses these pads to run multiple sessions daily. Classes are divided into Learn to Skate 1, 2, and 3 based on age and skill. Beginner groups focus on basic skating skills, balance, and control, while advanced groups work on jumps, spins, and dance moves. All participants must wear a CSA-approved helmet and gloves. Arriving ten minutes early is required for check-in and equipment fitting.

Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services, says the programme is a great way to build fitness and friendship during the warmer months. "We see a lot of new faces in June and July," Gallagher says. "The instructors are trained to help skaters progress at their own pace in a safe, supportive environment."

To join, visit the Programs section and select Learn to skate registration. You can also book a last minute ice slot if you want to practice between classes. If you need to change your booking, review the Booking amendment or cancellation policy on our website. Rental skates are available at the rink desk, and you can find full details on Ice skate rentals and sharpening.

Full schedules, location details, and safety guidelines are available on the Learn to skate registration page.
