Hollis Park Off-Leash Area fencing upgrade complete

The fencing upgrade at Hollis Park Off-Leash Area is complete, and the off-leash space at 70 Hollis Park Drive is open to the public once again. The project, led by the Parks & Trails team in partnership with Roads & Winter Maintenance, replaced worn chain-link panels and reinforced the perimeter along the busy residential streets. Crews also installed new self-closing gates and added clear signage to mark the off-leash zone.

Residents can now enjoy a safer, fully enclosed area for their dogs to run and socialize. The upgrade addresses concerns raised by neighbours and dog owners about animals wandering onto nearby roads and through private yards. The reinforced fencing keeps pets securely inside the park boundaries while maintaining easy access for all visitors.

“We wanted to make sure this off-leash area is safe and welcoming for both dogs and people in the Hollis Park neighbourhood,” says City Manager Robert Eng. “This upgrade removes the hazards along the perimeter and gives everyone a better space to enjoy the outdoors.”

The new gates feature a dual-entry system to prevent dogs from slipping out when owners enter or exit. Landscaping crews have also cleared overgrown brush near the fence line to improve visibility. If you notice any damage to the new fencing or need to report a missing or damaged sign, please use the city’s online service request tool or call 311.

Dog owners are reminded that all dogs must be licensed and under effective control while in the off-leash area. Waste bags must be brought by visitors and all waste must be picked up and disposed of in the bins provided. The upgraded off-leash area is open for use throughout the year. We appreciate your patience as the neighbourhood adjusts to the improved space and encourage you to share your feedback with the Parks & Trails team.
