The City of Wrenford is confirming road closures along Mercer Street to support the upcoming Harvest on Mercer street fair. The annual celebration will take place September 20 to 21, 2025, in the downtown core.
Roads & Winter Maintenance crews will begin setting up barriers and pedestrian zones along Mercer Street on Friday, September 19, at 10:00 p.m. The full closure will remain in place through the weekend until Sunday, September 21, at 8:00 p.m., when cleanup crews begin removing installations.
Motorists should expect detours along Tamsin Street and Albert Street during the closure period. The Traffic and Parking By-law 2014-075 will be temporarily adjusted to allow pedestrian access and vendor vehicle loading during approved hours. Residents living on Mercer Street between Water Street and Fallsview Road will receive a temporary resident access pass to enter and exit their properties. These passes are mailed out the week before the event.
We coordinate the Mercer Street closures every year to keep the fair safe for families and vendors alike, says James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. We encourage drivers to plan their routes ahead of time and use our downtown transit terminal, which will run extra trips on Saturday morning.
Drivers can reach the event area using the Downtown Transit Terminal at 1 Market Square. The terminal is open Saturday from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., and the Wrenford Access specialized transit service can provide door-to-door rides for those with mobility needs. On-street parking along the closed corridor will be unavailable, but visitors can use the public parking lots on Church Street and the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility drop-off depot, where a free shuttle will run every 15 minutes during peak hours.
