WRENFORD, ON — September 18, 2025
The City of Wrenford will begin its annual fire hydrant flushing programme on September 22 in the north end. Over the next several weeks, Water & Wastewater crews will flush hydrants in neighbourhoods including Northgate, Kingfisher, Railside, Copper Ridge, Ambrel Lake, Southview, Orchard Park, Ashgrove, Eastfield, and Tamarack.
Flushing helps clear out minerals and sediment that build up in the water pipes over time. The programme runs between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. If you use water while crews are working on the line near your street, you might see cloudy or discoloured water. This is called turbidity. It is not harmful, but it can stain laundry or taste different.
If you notice discoloured water, run the cold tap in your sink or bathtub for five to ten minutes until it runs clear. Do not use hot water during this time, as the sediment can enter your hot water tank. You may also experience a temporary drop in water pressure. The water is always safe to drink once it runs clear. For questions, call 519-555-0100, email [email protected], or visit Service Wrenford at Wrenford City Hall, 100 Mercer Street, Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"This annual maintenance keeps our distribution system running efficiently and ensures strong water pressure for firefighting and everyday use," said Patrick Nguyen, Water Operations Manager. "We ask for your patience while the crews work through the north end this fall."
Crews will work through the schedule from west to east, finishing in the north end by mid-November. The City will send out service alerts before crews enter each neighbourhood.
