Fire hydrant flushing begins in Ambrel Lake neighbourhood for 2025

The City of Wrenford is starting its annual fire hydrant flushing program in the Ambrel Lake neighbourhood this week, beginning April 14, 2025. Crews will work through the area over the next few weeks to clean the water mains and test the hydrants.

Flushing takes place between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. You may notice cloudy water or a temporary drop in water pressure while crews open the hydrants on your street. The water remains safe to drink, but you should run your cold water tap for a few minutes until it runs clear. Avoid running hot water during this time, as it can pull sediment into your home's plumbing.

Crews will move through the streets near Ambrel Lake Road, Concession 4 Road, and the surrounding residential blocks. They follow a set route so they can finish the neighbourhood before the summer heat arrives. If you are outside during the work, please keep a safe distance from the crews and their equipment.

"Flushing keeps our water system running efficiently and makes sure the hydrants will work when we need them most," says Samuel Adeyemi, General Manager of Infrastructure and Planning. "We appreciate your patience while our crews work through the neighbourhood."

To stay updated on flushing locations, visit the City Services page or sign up for Wrenford Emergency Alerts. For questions about the program, contact the Fire Rescue team at 519-555-0115 or visit Fire Station 1 (Headquarters) during business hours.

The City thanks Ambrel Lake residents for their cooperation as we prepare the water system for the busy season ahead.
