Fire department recruits new class of firefighter trainees for 2025

The Wrenford Fire Rescue is recruiting a new class of firefighter trainees to join the department in 2025. Applications are open now for residents who are passionate about public safety and ready to take on the challenges of emergency response. The department is looking for candidates with diverse backgrounds and a commitment to serving the community.

Firefighter trainees will complete a comprehensive training program that covers fire suppression, technical rescue, hazardous materials response, and medical first aid. Successful trainees will graduate as fully qualified firefighters, equipped with the skills needed to protect Wrenford's neighbourhoods and respond to emergencies around the clock. The Wrenford Fire Rescue has been serving the city since the early days of the settlement, and today provides essential fire prevention, investigation, and emergency medical services to all six wards.

"We are committed to building a fire service that reflects the diverse and vibrant community we call home," says Fire Chief Darren MacAulay. "We welcome applicants from all walks of life and are dedicated to providing inclusive training and career development opportunities."

Applicants must be at least 19 years old, possess a valid driver's licence, and be physically fit to meet the demands of the role. The City offers competitive pay, a defined benefit pension plan, and flexible work options where possible. Interested candidates can view the full job description and submit their applications through the Careers portal. The application deadline is March 20, 2025. The City will also host a virtual information session on March 6, 2025, at 12:00 p.m. to answer questions about the recruitment process and daily life as a firefighter.
