All city-operated recreation facilities will be closed, including the Tamsin Valley Leisure Centre, Northgate Aquatic Centre, Westbrook Community Arena, Eastfield Twin Arenas, and the Ambrel Lake Recreation Centre. Larch Heights Golf Course will also be closed. The Wrenford Public Library branches (Main, Northgate, and Ambrel Lake) are operated by an independent board and will be closed for the holiday.
Parks and trails, including Riverside Flats Park, Ambrel Lake Park, Benchlands Lookout Park, and the Tamsin River Trail System, will remain open to the public. Centennial Gardens will be closed.
Transit and waste collection
Wrenford Transit will operate on a Sunday schedule. The Downtown Transit Terminal at 1 Market Square will open at 8:00 a.m. and close at 7:00 p.m.
Curbside waste collection will be delayed by one day. Garbage, Blue Box, and Green Bin collection that was scheduled for Monday will take place on Tuesday, February 18. Please ensure your bins are out by 7:00 a.m. on the new collection day.
Emergency and by-law services
Emergency services remain available 24 hours a day. The Wrenford Police Service Headquarters at 75 Albert Street and all fire stations will remain staffed. The Wrenford Paramedic Services Headquarters at 500 Eastfield Road will operate with reduced administration staff. By-law enforcement officers will not make non-emergency patrols on the holiday.
"We know many residents use the long weekend to spend time outdoors or catch up on home projects," says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "Our teams will be back on Tuesday to ensure all services run smoothly when the city reopens."
