The City of Wrenford is releasing the extra leaf collection schedule for October 2025 to help residents manage the seasonal rush of falling leaves. Starting the first weekend of October, collection crews will visit each residential zone on a set weekend in October, November, and December. You can find your exact pickup dates and zone map on the Yard waste and leaf collection schedule page.
To make sure your leaves get picked up, set them out in paper yard waste bags, store-bought bins (maximum 100 litres), or directly in your green bin. Do not use plastic bags, including compostable or biodegradable ones. If your green bin is full, you can place extra bags or bins next to it, but leave at least one metre of space between containers for the crew. Set out your leaves before 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled collection day.
Please keep leaves off the street, sidewalks, and catch basins. Raking or blowing leaves into the road can create slipping hazards for pedestrians and cyclists, and it can block storm drains, leading to localized flooding. Under the Stormwater By-law 2023-095, leaving leaves in catch basins is a fineable offence. If you accidentally blow leaves onto the road, please rake them back onto your property.
"Leaves are a free resource for our gardens and a key part of our diversion goals," says Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "When residents follow the bagging rules and keep catch basins clear, we can keep the streets safe and turn this yard waste into rich compost for our parks."
Once collected, your leaves are processed at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility and turned into compost that residents can pick up for free at the depot. For more information on proper sorting, seasonal collection dates, and compost pickup, visit the Garbage & Recycling section or call 311.
