The City of Wrenford is sharing tips on how to prepare holiday waste for drop-off at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility. Starting in early December, residents can bring their Christmas trees and other seasonal waste directly to the depot at 3500 Concession 4 Road.
To make sure your tree is accepted, please remove all tinsel, wire, and ornaments before you arrive. Trees with stands full of water should be drained first. If your tree is too large to fit in your vehicle, crews at the facility can help you cut it down safely. You can also bring old wreaths, garlands, and natural greenery to the drop-off area.
Instead of dropping off your tree, you can also schedule curbside pickup. The City collects Christmas trees for free during the first two weeks of January. Just place your tree at the curb on your regular collection day, and our waste collection crews will take it away. If you prefer to drop it off earlier in the season, the East Wrenford facility is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
"Getting your tree ready correctly keeps our workers safe and makes sure the material gets recycled into mulch for our parks," said Ben Achterberg, Waste Programs Supervisor. "We want to make the holiday season as easy as possible for you, so please follow these simple steps."
While you are sorting through holiday decorations, remember to check our sorting guide for other seasonal items. Old lights, broken ornaments, and artificial trees should not go in your Blue Bin or Green Bin. Bring them to the facility's special holiday waste zone or use our online tool to find the right bin.
Complete collection schedules and detailed waste sorting rules are available on the Garbage & Recycling page. For questions about holiday waste or to request a new waste cart, call 519-555-0128 or visit City Hall at 100 Mercer Street.
