Council approves 2026-2035 strategic plan for community growth

City Council approved the 2026–2035 Strategic Plan for community growth during its regular meeting on Monday, November 24, 2025, in the Council Chambers at Wrenford City Hall.

The plan lays out the City's priorities for the next ten years. It shows how the City will manage growth in neighbourhoods like Wildrye, improve your transit and road networks, protect the Tamsin River and its trails, and keep your property taxes stable. The plan sets clear goals for every City department and will guide how the annual budget is built.

"We built this plan by listening to residents through our public engagement sessions and by looking at what our community needs for the long term," said City Manager Robert Eng. "It gives our staff a clear roadmap so we can deliver services efficiently and make smart decisions about where your tax dollars go."

The strategic plan focuses on four main areas that affect you:

  • Community Growth and Neighbourhoods: Supporting the completion of Wildrye and Copper Ridge while keeping the character of established areas.
  • Environment and Infrastructure: Upgrading water and wastewater systems, expanding the Tamsin River Trail System, and improving stormwater management.
  • Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness: Strengthening partnerships with the Wrenford Police Service, Fire Rescue, and Tamsin Valley Public Health.
  • Financial Sustainability: Keeping taxes predictable while investing in long-term assets like the Northgate Aquatic Centre.

This plan does not change any existing laws or zoning rules. It simply sets the direction for Council and City staff. Each department will create its own annual work plan to match these goals, and you will see progress reported to Council and shared online every year.

Residents can read the full plan and view the budget framework on the City's website. If you have questions about how the plan affects your property or local services, contact your ward councillor or the Planning & Development department.
