Wrenford crews are repairing and servicing municipal vehicles at the Civic Operations Centre through May to keep spring and summer services running smoothly.
The Roads & Winter Maintenance team is conducting scheduled maintenance on the city's fleet of snowplows, salt trucks, and road maintenance vehicles. This annual check-up ensures every vehicle is ready for the busy spring road season and the upcoming winter. Crews are also inspecting and repairing the heavy equipment used for pothole patching, sidewalk repair, and park maintenance.
During this period, some collection and service vehicles may be temporarily shifted to backup units or shared between routes. If you notice a delay in garbage, recycling, or organics pickup, or if a road maintenance crew takes a slightly different route, it is likely due to these necessary repairs. The city has planned the work to minimize disruption to daily services.
"We are making sure every truck and piece of equipment is in top shape before the spring rush," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "These repairs now mean fewer breakdowns later in the year and safer, more reliable service for residents."
The city is also kicking off its Spring Road Repair Programme alongside the fleet work. As temperatures rise and freeze-thaw cycles cause more damage to pavement, crews will begin filling cracks, patching potholes, and clearing storm drains. The fleet maintenance directly supports these efforts by ensuring all repair trucks and paving equipment are fully operational.
Residents can still report road concerns, such as potholes, damaged signs, or street light outages, through the city's online service request portal or by calling 519-555-0100. The city appreciates your patience while crews work behind the scenes to keep our infrastructure and vehicles in good condition.
