City unveils public art mosaic at Downtown Transit Terminal

The City of Wrenford is proud to unveil a new 12-metre public art mosaic at the Downtown Transit Terminal, created by a Wrenford-based artist to capture the daily rhythm of commuters and the flowing Tamsin River. Installed in early May, the piece now greets riders every time they enter the facility at 1 Market Square.

The mosaic features colourful ceramic tiles arranged in sweeping patterns that mimic the river's current and the movement of people through the terminal. It covers a previously blank concrete wall near the fare sales area, turning a functional space into a welcoming gateway for riders. The project was funded through the Public Art Reserve, which supports new installations across the city and ensures that public spaces reflect our shared identity.

"We want every person who steps into the terminal to feel a sense of connection to this city and to the people they share it with," says City Manager Robert Eng. "Public art like this mosaic brightens our transit hubs and reminds us that Wrenford is built by the river and by the people who travel through it every day."

The installation is part of the City's ongoing commitment to the Public art collection programme, which allocates funds for new works in public spaces. You can visit the terminal anytime it is open to see the new artwork. The mosaic will be maintained by the Arts & Heritage team as part of the city's public art care schedule, which includes routine cleaning and structural checks to keep the piece safe and vibrant for years to come.
