City unveils new heritage walking tour of downtown

On Monday, October 13, the City of Wrenford unveiled the Mill Street Memories Walking Tour, a new self-guided experience that takes you through the heart of the downtown core. The tour highlights the area's grist mill roots, early commercial buildings, and the historic Centennial Bridge.

You can follow the route on your own schedule. The path covers key stops along Mercer, Mill, and Water Streets, stopping at landmarks like the Old Mill Museum and Centennial Gardens. Each marker tells a short story about the people, businesses, and industries that helped Wrenford grow from a small river settlement into a thriving city. The tour is designed to take about two hours to complete at a relaxed pace.

"Downtown is the heart of Wrenford, and this tour helps residents and visitors connect with the stories that built our city," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "It is a wonderful way to explore our neighbourhoods and learn why we call Wrenford the City by the Falls."

Getting started is simple. You can download the full route map and audio guides from the Arts & Heritage section of the city website. If you prefer a paper copy, printed guides are available at the service counter at Wrenford City Hall and at the Old Mill Museum & Archives. You can also pick up a free activity map for children at the Fallsview Arts Centre box office.

Once you finish your walk, we encourage you to share your photos on social media using the #WrenfordHistory tag. For more information about our heritage sites and conservation programmes, visit Heritage properties.
