Explore Wrenford's history on foot
Welcome to Wrenford's self-guided heritage walking tours. These routes are part of the Wrenford Heritage Walks programme. They help you discover the people, places, and stories that shaped our city along the Tamsin River. You can take one tour or walk them all.
Tamsin River Tales Walking Tour
Walk along the Tamsin River Trail and learn about the early mill workers, bridge builders, and flood survivors. This tour stops at ten markers that tell the story of how the river powered our growth. A "River Keepers" activity map is included to help kids explore the trail and find the bronze markers along the path.
Mill Street Memories Walking Tour
Stroll down Mill Street and Water Street to see how the downtown changed over time. You will learn about the grist mill built in 1834, the old railway station, and the shops that moved to the core. The tour highlights the buildings that survived the 1988 flood and the ones that were rebuilt.
Arrival at the Falls Walking Tour
Start at the Centennial Bridge and walk down to Wrenford Falls. See how the city grew around the water power and how the Centennial Bridge became a landmark. You will see the Old Mill Museum and learn about the 1834 grist mill that started it all.
Centennial Gardens Memorial Trail
Take a quiet walk through Centennial Gardens and the nearby cenotaph. This trail honours those from Wrenford who served in the Boer War, the World Wars, and peacekeeping missions. It includes ten sites that have war memorials, plus three extra stops that played a big role in the First World War.
