The City of Wrenford announced today that it has secured $14 million in provincial and federal infrastructure funding to support housing construction across the community. The investment, confirmed on April 10, 2025, will be directed toward water, sewer, and road upgrades that remove barriers to new development and help deliver homes faster.
City Council approved the use of these funds to strengthen the City’s housing strategy and to provide matching infrastructure support for the Wrenford Housing Capital Initiative. The money will target fully serviced areas in the north and south ends of the city, ensuring that developers and non-profit partners have the utility capacity needed to break ground on missing-middle housing, townhouses, and affordable rental projects.
“Securing this $14 million investment allows us to tackle infrastructure gaps directly and accelerate the delivery of homes across Wrenford,” said City Manager Robert Eng. “By funding the heavy lifting on water and sewer lines ahead of private development, we are cutting wait times and making sure the City’s housing targets are met on schedule.”
If you are a developer or non-profit provider interested in accessing infrastructure support, review the eligibility criteria on the Housing Accelerator Fund page. The City will open a dedicated application portal for infrastructure matching grants in May 2025. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis, with priority given to projects that align with the objectives in the housing strategy documents.
