As the leaves turn and temperatures drop, the City of Wrenford is getting ready for the upcoming winter storm season. On October 20, 2025, the City announced its updated snow clearing plan and reminded residents that emergency preparedness starts at home.
Our roads crews will begin clearing main roads once we see five centimetres of snow. Residential streets will be plowed after eight centimetres have fallen. During the winter season, an overnight on-street parking ban runs from December 1 to March 31 between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m. This rule gives our plows the space they need to work safely and efficiently. You can find the full details in the Roads & Winter Maintenance section.
"Winter storms can happen quickly, and they can disrupt travel and daily life," said City Manager Robert Eng. "We want to make sure our crews are ready to clear the roads safely, and we want every household in Wrenford to have a plan in place. When you prepare ahead of time, you stay safe and help keep our community moving."
Getting ready for a winter storm involves three simple steps. First, know the risks that affect your neighbourhood, such as icy sidewalks or power outages. Second, make a household emergency plan that covers how you will contact each other and where you will meet. Third, build an emergency kit with enough food, water, flashlights, batteries, and any needed medications to last three days. The City's Extreme weather and storm preparedness guide walks you through these steps.
If a severe storm is forecast, the City will post updates on Wrenford 311 and our service alerts page. Residents can also call 311 for non-emergency winter service information, or 519-555-0111 for after-hours utility emergencies. We encourage you to check on your neighbours and avoid unnecessary travel when conditions are poor.
