The City of Wrenford is adjusting its seasonal leaf and yard waste collection schedule for the autumn and early winter months. Starting next week, crews will modify pickup routes across all six wards to ensure timely collection and keep our storm drains clear before the cold sets in.
The changes align with the transition to the Roads & Winter Maintenance season. Residents in the Downtown, Benchlands, Northgate, Ambrel Lake, Eastfield, and Wildrye neighbourhoods will see modified pickup days for paper yard-waste bags. The updated calendar rolls out in phases through October to match leaf drop patterns and prepare snow routes for the upcoming overnight parking ban.
You can check your specific collection day using the online address tool. Please place your green bin and paper yard-waste bags at the curb by 7:00 a.m. on your scheduled day. If your bag is not picked up, leave it out; crews will return to missed streets. Do not use plastic bags, even compostable ones, as they jam sorting equipment. For full details on the new collection calendar and drop-off options at the East Wrenford Waste Management Facility, visit our Yard waste and leaf collection schedule page.
As we shift focus to winter maintenance, remember that the overnight on-street parking ban runs from December 1 to March 31. Clearing your storm catch basins of leaves and debris now helps prevent ice dams and flooding when the first snowfall hits. You can also learn more about Snow route parking bans and how to apply for an exemption if you have a verified mobility condition.
"Keeping our catch basins clear this fall directly reduces the risk of winter flooding and keeps snowplows moving safely on our residential streets," said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. "A little preparation now makes the whole season easier for everyone."
