Starting today, the City of Wrenford is accepting applications for the Winter Home Insulation Grant. This program provides funding to help homeowners and renters in low-income households improve their home insulation, seal drafts, and upgrade windows to keep heat in during the cold months.
Residents can receive up to $5,000 per home. The grant covers materials and labour for adding insulation to walls, attics, and crawl spaces, installing weather stripping on doors and windows, and replacing single-pane windows with energy-efficient models. The money is paid directly to the contractor or vendor once the work is completed and inspected.
To apply, you must own or rent your home in Wrenford and meet the income eligibility requirements. Renters need a letter of consent from their landlord. You can submit your application and supporting documents online through the Housing portal, or pick up a paper form at Wrenford City Hall. A housing counsellor can also help you fill out the forms at the Service Wrenford counter.
"Keeping our residents warm and reducing their monthly heating bills is a top priority for us," said Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. "This grant is a practical way to improve comfort, lower energy costs, and make homes safer and more efficient for everyone in Wrenford."
The City has set aside $1.2 million for this winter's grant cycle. Applications are reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the $1.2 million is committed, the portal will close for the season. We encourage residents to apply as soon as possible to secure their funding.
