City launches winter volunteer recruitment for holiday events

The City of Wrenford is opening applications for winter volunteers to help support holiday and community events across the city. Starting today, February 4, the recruitment drive is looking for reliable residents to assist with event setup, guest services, and safety monitoring during the colder months.

Volunteers will play a key role in making events like Lights at the Falls and Remembrance Day services welcoming and smooth for everyone. Roles include checking tickets, directing pedestrian traffic, setting up seating, and providing information to visitors at downtown and neighbourhood locations. You can find the full schedule on News & Events.

"Winter events bring our community together when we need connection the most," says Robert Eng, City Manager. "We are looking for friendly, dependable volunteers who are ready to help us keep these spaces safe and festive for all ages."

There are no experience requirements for most roles, though some positions may require lifting light equipment or standing for short periods. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old, and those under 18 will need a signed parental consent form. The City provides free training, volunteer recognition awards, and flexible shifts that fit around work or school schedules.

To apply, visit the Volunteer opportunities page or head directly to the Careers section. You can also drop by Wrenford City Hall to pick up a paper application. The City encourages early submissions so coordinators have time to match skills with event needs.
