On September 3, 2025, the City of Wrenford announced that builders have exceeded the province's housing targets for the second consecutive month. In August alone, 142 new homes were completed across the city, pushing the total number of finished units past 1,250 since the provincial targets were introduced.
These completions bring the city well ahead of schedule for the current year. The development pipeline now holds approximately 4,800 approved or under-construction units. This includes a mix of high-density apartments, mid-rise buildings, and low-density options like laneway suites and duplexes. Industry experts project that the current pace will deliver more than the province's five-year goal of 1,200 new homes annually.
"Our development pipeline is strong, and we are proud to see builders delivering on their promises to add diverse and attainable housing to our neighbourhoods," said Mayor Danielle Okafor-Price. "This progress means more options for young families, seniors, and workers who keep our city running. We are committed to making sure these homes are built efficiently and safely."
Keeping the pipeline moving requires steady work behind the scenes. The City is updating the Official Plan to allow more housing types in established areas and is streamlining the permit process through the Wrenford ePermits portal. While construction timelines depend on supply chains, labour availability, and financing, the City continues to coordinate with developers, the Wrenford Police Service, and Tamsin Valley Public Health to ensure new sites meet all safety and zoning requirements.
