This week, City crews are clearing snow from the trails at Ambrel Lake Park. This work is part of the city's regular winter maintenance schedule, which aims to keep all public trails accessible and safe for residents who walk, run, or cross-country ski. The trails at Ambrel Lake Park are cleared after the main roads in the area have been plowed. Crews use specialized equipment to remove snow from the boardwalk and the main loop without damaging the surrounding landscape. If you have parked your car in the park lot, please move it before 6:00 a.m. so crews can access the trail entrances safely.
Keeping our trail network open all winter long is a top priority, said James Whitford, Roads Superintendent. Clearing the trails quickly after a snowfall makes a big difference for residents who want to get outside, even in the coldest weather.
Residents should report any hazards, such as icy patches or fallen branches, through the city's online reporting tool or by calling 311. Please also remember that the overnight parking ban runs from 2:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. between December 1 and March 31. Moving your vehicle during these hours helps crews work efficiently. The overnight parking ban is enforced under the Winter Maintenance and Parking By-law 2020-097. Crews typically clear residential streets once the snow reaches eight centimetres, while main roads are cleared at five centimetres.
