City announces 2026 budget priorities for economic resilience

The City of Wrenford is asking residents and business owners to share their priorities for the 2026 budget. This year, the City is placing a strong focus on economic resilience, making sure our local economy stays strong while keeping essential services affordable for everyone.

The annual budget is the City’s plan for funding and delivering services across Wrenford. In June, staff presented the 2026–2030 Budget Outlook, which outlines the financial context for the next four years. Rising costs, regional levies, and growing demand for services mean the City must carefully balance spending. To manage these pressures, Council has directed staff to develop budget scenarios that limit property tax increases while maintaining service levels. The draft budget will be presented to Council in December, followed by a final vote later that month.

Economic resilience is at the heart of this year’s planning. The City will continue to support local entrepreneurs through the Economic Development team, streamline business licensing, and invest in programs that help small businesses grow. At the same time, the City is looking for ways to improve efficiency and reduce waste in municipal operations so that property tax increases remain fair and manageable.

“A resilient economy means a stronger community for everyone,” says Isabel Moreno, Economic Development Manager. “We want to hear from residents and business owners about where we should focus our investments, how we can better support local commerce, and what services matter most to you.”

You can share your feedback through the online budget survey, which will be available in English and French. The survey is open now and runs through December 15. You can also learn more about how the City plans to grow our local economy by visiting the business licensing and start a business pages.

Once feedback is collected, a summary report will be sent to City Council ahead of the draft budget meetings. To stay up to date on budget meetings, council decisions, and other updates, visit the News & Events section or sign up for service alerts.
