Centennial Gardens community planting day scheduled

Residents who love green spaces are invited to help us refresh the formal gardens at Centennial Gardens. The City is hosting a community planting day on Saturday, August 9, from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the gardens located at 5 Victoria Street.

Come out and help us plant new perennials, shrubs, and ground cover around the cenotaph and along the main walkways. The City will provide all the plants, soil, shovels, and gloves. You just need to bring a reusable water bottle, wear closed-toe shoes, and dress for the weather. We will have shaded rest areas and light refreshments available.

"We want to keep Centennial Gardens looking beautiful for everyone who visits," said Maya Chen-Watson, Parks Planner. "This is a great chance for neighbours to get outside, meet each other, and help us prepare the gardens for the rest of the season."

Spaces are limited to 25 volunteers, so please register in advance. You can sign up online through the Parks & Trails page or by calling 519-555-0100. Families are welcome, and children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult.

If you are interested in helping with other outdoor projects throughout the year, check out our Participate in the tree planting program page for upcoming dates and volunteer opportunities.
