Volunteers are needed for the Benchlands Folk Festival, taking place August 9 and 10 at Benchlands Lookout Park. The City is looking for community members to help run the festival, from stage management to guest services.
The two-day event features local musicians, craft markets, and family-friendly workshops celebrating the Tamsin Valley's cultural heritage. There are several ways to get involved. We need a sound and lighting crew to set up equipment and manage audio during performances. Stage managers will coordinate artist load-ins and keep the schedule on track. We also need ticket takers, ushers, and a setup and cleanup crew to prepare the grounds before the gates open and restore the park afterward.
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Shifts run from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. on both days, though you can sign up for specific blocks. All volunteers receive a free festival pass, a meal voucher to use at participating stands, and a mandatory safety briefing before their first shift. Wrenford Transit routes 4 and 8 stop within a two-minute walk of the park entrance. Free event parking is available at the Downtown Transit Terminal, with a shuttle running every 15 minutes.
"The Benchlands Folk Festival is one of our favourite community celebrations," said Rosa Castellano, Events Coordinator. "Our volunteers are the backbone of the event, and we could not put on a safe and welcoming festival without their hard work."
Interested residents can apply through the Wrenford Volunteer Application form. Please submit your application by July 31 so we can match you with the right team. For questions, call 519-555-0100 or email [email protected].
