Apply for community grants to support local neighbourhood projects

Applications are now open for the Neighbourhood Revitalization Grant, a City program that helps residents and neighbourhood groups fund local improvements. Whether you want to upgrade a playground, plant a community garden, or host a street festival, you can apply for financial support to bring your project to life.

Grants range from $5,000 to $15,000 for smaller, single-street or park projects. To keep things fair and spread the support across the city, funds are paid in two parts rather than all at once. You will receive 40 per cent of your grant upfront to cover start-up costs. The remaining balance is paid after your project is finished and reviewed. You must also secure matching contributions through sponsors, volunteer labour, or in-kind donations. Please note that you must secure all required building or event permits before the City releases any funds.

City staff will review your application over an eight-week period. If your project is approved, you have sixty days to submit a completion report and photos once the work is done. If you need help getting started, the Neighbourhoods Office is running drop-in application clinics to help you draft your plan and check your paperwork.

“Community-led projects make our neighbourhoods stronger and more connected,” says Fiona Gallagher, General Manager of Community Services. “We want to make sure residents have the tools and funding they need to turn their ideas into lasting improvements for everyone.”
